19th Century Imperial Russian silver & niello enamel large cigarette case, the cover dipicting the statue of Pushkin (build in 1880), standing in the Pushkin Square, Tverskoy District of central Moscow. It was historically known as Strasnaya square, and renamed for Alexander Pushkin in 1937. Hallmarked Imperial Russian silver 84, Maker mark for D Nikitin.

DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century Imperial Russian solid silver & niello enamel large cigarette case, the cover dipicting the statue of Pushkin (build in 1880), standing in the Pushkin Square, Tverskoy District of central Moscow. It was historically known as Strasnaya square, and renamed for AlexanderPushkin in 1937. Inside of the case is parcel gilt, each side decorated with a niello enamel decoration, reverse applied with the original owners gold initials, the hinge is very tight and push button keeps the case closed. Hallmarked Imperial Russian silver (84, for 875 silver standard), Moscow, year 1893, Assay master (Anatoly Artsybashev, active 1888-1898), Maker D Nikitin (active 1893-1917), renowned silversmith working with niello.
