19th Century Russian provincial silver-gilt mounted coconut lidded cup, the coconut standing on a solid silver octagonal base, beautifully chased with acanthus leaves and engraved, the thin inverted stem terminates with a floral bulb and the coconut body supported by large acanthus leaves, applied with large family initials surrounded by an acanthus leaf and oak leaf boarders, inside is silver lined and lid mounted with a cast model of a bird of prey.

Antique early 19th Century Russian rare provincial silver-gilt mounted coconut lidded cup, the coconut standing on a solid silver octagonal base, beautifully chased with acanthus leaves and engraved (1830 year, April 6th, sign of gratitude), the thin inverted stem terminates with a floral bulb and the coconut body supported by large acanthus leaves, applied with large family initials surrounded by an acanthus leaf and oak leaf boarders, inside is silver lined and lid mounted with a cast model of a bird of prey.
The piece features high quality of the workmanship and very detailed design. Russian silver and coconut objects are very rare and sought after, but what make this piece particularly rare are the provincial hallmarks, each part is fully hallmarked Russian silver 84, Tula city mark 1796-1838 (please see, Postnikova-Losseva n.3733 p.254), year 1825, Maker's mark for Afanasy Mikhailov Sobinin (please see, Postnikova-Losseva n.3748 p.254)
