DESCRIPTION

Antique late-19th / early-20th Century Imperial Russian Solid Silver 12 persons flatware cutlery set, comprising of 12 dinner forks, 12 dinner spoons, 12 dinner knives, 12 dessert spoons, 12 first course or dessert forks, 12 first course or dessert knives, soup ladle, meat carving set and fish serving set. All the knives have a stainless steel blade and filled handles, as always the case.

The impressive and magnificent set features a stunning and decorative Rococo design, each handle embellished with scrolls, foliage and shell-shaped top.

The set comes in the wooden fitted box.

Each part is Hallmarked Russian silver (84 for 875 standard), Moscow, year 1896-1908, Maker's mark in Cyrillic for Gustav Klingert, one of the most important and renowned silversmiths of all time. The firm, also known for its enamelled items, was founded in 1865 and had 55 emplyees until it closed in 1917. The firm exhibited at a number of international expositions, including the Chicago World fair of 1893.
