ANTIQUE 19thC RARE INDIAN CUTCH SOLID SILVER EXCEPIONAL TWO HANDLED CUP c.1880
19th Century Indian Kutch, Bhuj, Gujarat region Silver two-handled cup, extremely heavy gauge, decorated all-over with typically Cutch chasing work. Cutch silver is distinguished by its closely worked, foliate, repoussé design. This piece also features various animals amid tightly scrolled vegetation, floral work and against a finely tooled background, twin leaf-capped scroll handles, shield engraved with a crest to the front.
Not hallmarked as often the case for Indian silver, but acid tested show a 900+ silver standard. It dates to the 1860-1880's.

This is an extraordinarily made Indian Colonial piece, excellent workmanship. The silver is not hallmarked as often the case for Indian silver, but acid tested show a 900+ silver standard. It dates to the 1860-1880's.
