19th Century Indian Cutch, Bhuj, Gujarat region hand crafted Solid Silver Bowl, decorated all over with exceptional Cutch chasing work, pierced wavy border. The body features a tightly scrolled foliate and floral work and against a finely tooled background, with lions and tigers fighting with hunters and a figure riding an elephant fighting a tiger, vacant shield to one side.
The style and quality closely remind the Oomersi Mawji pieces. As often the case the piece is unmarked (acid tested show a 900+ silver standard), It dates to the1880's.

This is an extraordinarily made Indian Colonial piece, excellent quality of workmanship, the style and quality closely remind the Oomersi Mawji pieces. As often the case the piece is unmarked (acid tested show a 900+ silver standard), but is clearly the product of a prominent Indian silversmith. It dates to the1880's.
