Each piece is very heavy and finely crafted, the teapot features an elegant shaped spout, terminating in a bird head and the hinged lid surmounted by a cast figure of a squirrel, each piece is mounted with a scroll handle.

DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Indian exceptional solid silver repousse three piece tea set, of pear shape, comprising of a teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug, each piece is profusely and beautifully repousse' decorated with dense scrolling foliage and flowers on a tooled matted ground, depicting various animals hunting and running away. Each piece is very heavy and finely crafted, the teapot features an elegant shaped spout, terminating in a bird head and the hinged lid surmounted by a cast figure of a squirrel, each piece is mounted with a scroll handle. Although the set appears to be unmarked, which is often the case for Indian silver, it has been tested silver (900+ standard), the piece undoubtedly dates to the late 19th century.
