DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century Indian exceptional solid silver repousse three piece tea set, comprising of teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug, each piece is profusely and beautifully repousse' decorated with scrolling foliage and flowers on a tooled ground, depicting various animals hunting and fighting. Each piece is very heavy and finely crafted, the teapot features an elegant shaped spout, terminating in a bird head and the hinged lids are surmounted by a cast coiled snake, the handles are in a style of a king cobra. Although the set appears to be unmarked, which is often the case for Indian silver, it has been tested silver (900+ standard), the piece undoubtedly dates to the late 19th century.
