Antique 19th Century exceptional Indian Colonial solid silver lipped presentation tankard, of baluster form on spreading circular foot, very finely chased with flowers on matted ground. Scroll handle with a floral thumbpiece. The tankard is of very heavy gauge, it takes influence from English pieces made in the Georgian period by English silversmiths.

The base bearing the Hallmark "T&CO" for Twentyman & Co, one of the most important silversmiths active in Calcutta since the early 19th Century (1818-1829). This tankard is particularly early, as it probably dates to the 1820's.
