19th Century Indian Kutch (Cutch) silver double sided cigar box, of octagonal form, impressively heavy gauge and exceptionally fine workmanship, standing on four lion paw feet, the two cigar compartments set with large hinged lids mounted with cast handles, modelled as hunters holding spears, the two smaller compartments used for matches, the lids mounted with cast models of wild boars running towards each other on a reeded ground to be used to strike a match. The tops and sides surrounded by typical cutch foliate and floral repoussé design on matted ground, amongst it depicting various running animals.

Antique late-19th Century Indian Kutch (Cutch) very rare and unusual solid silver double sided cigar box, of octagonal form, impressively heavy gauge and exceptionally fine workmanship, standing on four lion paw feet, the two cigar compartments set with large hinged lids mounted with cast handles, modelled as hunters holding spears, the two smaller compartments used for matches, the lids mounted with cast models of wild boars running towards each other on a reeded ground to be used to strike a match. The tops and sides surrounded by typical cutch foliate and floral repoussé design on matted ground, amongst it depicting various running animals. As often the case the silver is not Hallmarked (acid tested 900+ silver standard), it dates to the 1890's.
