DESCRIPTION
Antique early 20th Century German Hanau Solid Silver pair of figures, modelled as a 15th Century king and a queen, probably Ferdinand and Isabella, the king wearing a rich brocade tunic decorated in relief and armour, with dagger under one arm and sword in the other, the shield blazoned with armorials; the queen wearing a rich floral brocade also in relief. Both figures have carved faux Ivoryfaces and stand on a foliate embellished pedestal base. The casting is extremely detailed and magnificent.
Each base is Hallmarked with German Hanau silver for Neresheimer & Sohne (great manufacturer) and is also fully Hallmarked with English silver import marks (925 Standard), the king London, year 1905 (k), the queen Chester, year 1906 (F), both bearing the Importer's mark B.M (Berthold Muller, the most important importer of German silver, particularly Neresheimer).
