19th Century German Hanau Silver lidded tankard, in the style of the early 16th Century pieces, parcel gilt, beautifully chased and embossed with Bacchanalia scene with a drunk Bacchus carried by satyrs, cherubs and nymphs. Wavy rims, scroll handle, the hinged lid is embossed with fruits and lid terminates with a stunning fruit finial. Hallmarked with German Hanau marks (900+ grade silver), Maker's marks for an unidentified Hanau silversmith. It dates to year 1880's.

Wavy rims, scroll handle, the hinged lid is embossed with fruits and lid terminates with a stunning fruit finial.
Hallmarked with German Hanau marks (tested 900+ grade silver), Maker's marks for an unidentified Hanau silversmith. It dates to year 1880's. The piece also bears Austro-Hungarian import marks (year 1901-21).
