Antique mid-19th Century French solid silver-gilt exceptional presentation tea cup. The silver is profusely decorated with flowers, laurel swags, bow ribbons and beaded boarders, the porcelain cup applied with royal blue glaze and gilded rim, the stunning set comes in its original presentation box. The top of the box and saucer decorated with a crown, undoubtedly this set was presented as a gift to a noble french family as perhaps a wedding gift.
Hallmarked French silver (950 standard, used 1838-present), Paris, Marks for Maison Odiot - Charles Nicolas Odiot (active 1827-1869), each base stamped "ODIOT A PARIS". Charles Nicolas Odiot inherited the direction of Odiot in 1827 and was purveyor of silverware by appointment to His Majesty the King Louis-Philippe and to the Royal Family of Orleans, excelling in the revived rocaille style.
