PAIR OF 20thC VICTORIAN SOLID SILVER GROTESQUE INKWELLS, LONDON c.1880
Antique 19th Century Victorian pair of solid silver inkwells, crafted in a grotesque style reminiscent of a demon wearing a carnival mask, ears modelled as quill rests, these inkwells are the work of two different silversmiths, created in different years yet perfectly matching. Each features a removable glass liner concealed beneath the lid. Hallmarked English Silver (925 standard), London, year 1880 & 1884 (E & I) Makers mark DHCH (Daniel & Charles Houle) & WG (William Gwillim).
