ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Magna Carta, signed in 1215 by King John of England, is one of history's most significant legal documents, laying the foundation for constitutional governance. Drafted to address the grievances of rebellious barons, it established the principle that everyone, including the monarch, is subject to the law. Key provisions included protections for church rights, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown. Though initially annulled and reissued in modified forms, its enduring legacy lies in its influence on the development of democratic principles, particularly inspiring later documents such as the English Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution.
