20th Century Victorian Silver cup and cover trophy, very large and impressive, the campana-form body chased with scrolls and flowers, applied leaf-capped scroll handles in the style of the Georgian cup and covers, the cover is chased with a similar decoration and surmounted by a cast finial modelled like a horse. DESCRIPTION
Antique early-20th Century Victorian Solid Silver cup and cover trophy, very large and impressive, the campana-form body chased with scrolls and flowers, applied leaf-capped scroll handles in the style of the Georgian cup and covers, the cover is chased with a similar decoration and surmounted by a cast finial modelled like a horse.
The trophy is applied with a circular panel on each side with a later inscription "East Kilbride Open Cattle Show Society" dating 1950. Due to the large size it can be used as a wine or champagne cooler, it comes with a large wooden plynth.
Both parts are fully Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), Birmingham, year 1900 (a), Maker's mark E&Co (Elkington & Co, important silver manufacturers).
CONDITION
In Great Condition - no damage, just general wear.
