DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century rare and magnificent Victorian Solid Silver matched three-piece table garniture, each piece raised on a tall shaped domed base chased and applied with floral garlands, the stunnong figural stem modelled like a sculptural composition depicting two naked putti holding another putto on their shoulders, exceptionally high-quality of the casting, on the two lateral pieces the putto in top issuing a latticework basket, on the central one supporting a nozzle, the three pieces are fitted with cut glass bowls.
This is an exceptional and extremely impressive matched figural table garniture, the modelling and the craftmanship is unusually high and detailed. The style and subject match perfectly and the two lateral comports have probably been commissioned a few years later to match the central piece and make an impressive set.
Each part is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, the central piece year 1860 (e), Maker's mark GF (George Fox, one of the greatest Victorian silversmiths), the two lateral pieces year 1871 (q), Maker's mark "JF EH" (Frazer & Haws).
