DESCRIPTION
Antique early 20th Century complete series of the famous Conyngham Cup 1872 painted by John Sturgess and engraved by EG Hester. These oak framed hand coloured Aquatints show the Punchestown Racecourse in four fine pictures “The start” in which Sturgess showed the clergy gathered on priest hill watching the race although their attendance was forbidden by the church. “The double” a precarious jump for all, “The stone wall” which speaks for itself and “The finish” showing the last length of the race for the Conyngham Cup. c.1900
