Antique 18th Century Imperial Russian solid silver-gilt impressive lidded tankard, parcel gilt, of traditional tapering form on a spreading foot, the sides chased with gilt putto masks and trailing foliage and scrolls on textured silver ground, applied with an elaborate, cast thumb-piece and scroll handle, the hinged cover cover decorated with a Catherine II, 1762-1796, AE medal, 1774, Peace With Turkey.

Lid and base hallmarked with Imperial Russian silver marks (875 silver standard), Assay master B.A (unknown), Moscow, year 1766, Maker's mark in Cyrillic A.B C (unknown silversmith, active 1766-1768, see Russian hallmarks, Postnikova -Loseva, page 207)
