Antique late 19th Century Victorian solid silver & bronze desk Inkwell in a shape of a 4lb weight. When you haven't seen a comparable in your lifetime, it is always exciting, and why we love Victorian novelties. The Victorians pushed the boundaries of style and design in the late 19th century and created some fabulous art and objects. This wonderful inkwell falls into that category. Taking a form of a Victorian four pound imperial measure scale weight of the 1870-80 period the silver mount and ring handle lift to reveal a hidden cavity and liner to keep ink. Given the heavy weight of the solid bronze body, it also acts as a desk weight for papers and letters.
