ANTIQUE 19thC GERMAN EXCEPTIONAL SOLID SILVER-GILT VASES, HANAU c.1880
19th Century German (Hanau) silver-gilt pair of large lidded vases. Of inverted pear shape on acanthus leaf and lobed bases, both chased with elaborate coats-of-arms flanked by putti with swords and two agricultural scenes, sides applied with well modelled lion masks below applied scrolling ribbons, domed removable lids with cast finials fully modeled as putti with a rake and basket of flowers and the other shooting an arrow, each on detachable carved ebonised wood stands.
Hallmarked with German Hanau pseudo marks, tested 800+ silver standard, marked on bases with French import marks.
