20th CENTURY FLOOR LAMP BY ENRICO TRONCONI FOR VISTOSI, ITALY, c.1970

DESCRIPTION

A very rare floor lamp by designed by Enrico Tronconi for Vistosi in Italy, manufactured around the 1970s. The glass illuminating sphere is secured over a bamboo-like metal lacquered frame with chrome detailing. A wonderful piece of mid century design bringing some retro Italian chic to any interior.

Vistosi is a well known producer of art glass which has its roots in the northeast of Italy dating back almost five centuries when the Gazzabin family name appeared for the first time in the registers of the Murano glass art when they became the owners of the Al Bastian furnace. The “Vistosi” name appeared in the late 17th century as the nickname of an heir to the Gazzabin glassworks but it was in the 20th century that they really became prominent when they became manufacturers working with most famous designers of the time, such as Gae Aulenti, Angelo Mangiarotti, Ettore Sottsass, Adalberto Dal Lago, Vico Magistretti, Albert Leclerc.

Enrico Tronconi was one such designer who came up with some extremely popular and acclaimed designs, one of which were floor lamps with a “bamboo“ design.
