ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

It's extremely rare to find such examples, which were often featured in museums and exhibitions. This piece must have originally been made by a prominent Indian silversmith or belonged to an important collection for Elkington to consider making this copy. Judging by the quality, I suspect the original piece would have the mark of "O.M BHUJ," indicating it was crafted by Oomersi Mawji, the most renowned Indian Colonial silversmith and Court Silversmith to the ruler of Kutch, Maharao Shri Mirza Raja Sawai Khengarji Bahadur, who reigned from 1875 to 1942. Oomersi Mawji's pieces are now highly sought after by collectors.
