Antique early 19th Century Exceptional German 18k gold & enamel snuff box, of octagonal shape features a lid adorned with an exquisite oval enamel plaque, beautifully painted with a scene of fishermen by a river, set against a stunning landscape of mountains and a ruined castle in the background. The scene is framed by a sablé gold ground and bordered with opaque cornflower blue and white enamel frames, all of which flank a polished gold rim.

The sides of the box are finished in rich blue enamel, adding to its elegance. The base is centered with an oval striped enamel plaque and bears the maker's marks, including "FJ" alongside three additional marks. The base also features a sunburst mark surrounded by sprigs, and the right rim is numbered "3986." Attributed to Les Freres Toussaint, Hanau.
