Antique mid-19th Century French 18k gold & hand-painted enamel scent bottle, of shield form, the gold mount is highly decorated, body and hinged cover hand-painted depicting an exceptionally well-painted Renaissance inspired scenes. The hinge is tight and the top opens to reveal the original gold stopper.

Such Renaissance-inspired enamelled items are generally Austrian made, but this particular perfume bottle - of much higher quality compared to similar pieces made in Vienna - was made in France around 1860's, all silver parts are Hallmarked with a high-standard French 18k gold guarantee mark.
