DESCRIPTION
Behold this exquisite vintage cocktail cabinet, a meticulous reproduction of the Queen Anne style, skilfully crafted in the 1960s from solid hardwood. Immaculately preserved in its original condition.
Transformed with a red primer and adorned with black chalk paint, this cabinet boasts an antique, textured finish. To augment its durability, a protective layer of black wax has been applied, enhancing the desired antique texture. Drawing inspiration from classical Japanese visual representation, particularly the style of Utamaro, and influenced by Gustave Klimt's design aesthetic, the result is a unique masterpiece.
Opening the doors reveals a lavish gold interior, adorned with hand-painted fragments of poetry in classic Edo period Japanese calligraphy (1603-1868). Symbolising prosperity and good fortune in Japanese culture, gold leaf gilded Koi carp swim gracefully, completing the interior scheme. This one-of-a-kind, entirely hand-painted statement piece reflects my original design, making it a timeless addition to any space.
