20thC GERMAN "SPACE AGE" CHROME COFFEE TABLE
A striking "Space Age" coffee table, crafted in Germany latter part of the 20th century, most probably in the 1970s. This is a perfect example of the futuristic design trends that defined the era. Sometimes also labelled as "Sputnik" or "Atomic", the table’s bold construction consists of six chrome-plated metal spheres arranged in a dynamic, symmetrical formation, reminiscent of atomic structures and the visionary aesthetics of the Space Race.
These gleaming chrome spheres support a sleek, round glass top, creating a floating effect that enhances the table’s ultra-modern appeal. The combination of reflective chrome and minimalist glass offers a clean, contemporary look, making this piece both visually striking and functional.
Whether as a statement piece in a living room or as part of a modernist interior, this coffee table captures the adventurous spirit of 1970s design. Its Atomic and Space Age influence, with hints of the iconic Sputnik satellite, gives it a retro-futuristic charm, perfect for those who appreciate bold, unique furniture that defies conventional styles.
