Georges Mathias was a Belgian furniture designer who incorporated pieces of the natural world such as agate and ammonites to his creations. Typically he would use polished brass and then etch and emboss the brass to create a striking piece of furniture. Working out of Belgium in the 1970s his creations have become increasingly popular with interior designers who wish to add a touch of luxury to contemporary interiors. Coffee tables like these are now much sought after and in very short supply, usually a combination that leads to an increase in value over time.
