Adorned in a sophisticated color palette, the exterior boasts a black finish layered over an oriental red primer. The carefully applied antique texture, complemented by a meticulous application of black wax, enhances the vintage allure of the paintwork. The front and sides of the cabinet feature opulent gold leaf accents, paired with a skillfully applied black wash that, when rubbed back, establishes a compelling foundation for the hand-painted design—a personal interpretation inspired by the intricacies of kimono fabric.
Meticulously restored brassware, removed, cleaned, and replaced, adds to the allure of this unique piece. The design draws inspiration from Rinpa painting during the Japanese Edo period (1603-1868) and incorporates elements reminiscent of the decorative works of Gustave Klimt.
Internally, the cabinet is transformed into a gilded masterpiece, with the doors' interiors painted in a lustrous gold hue. Hand-painted fragments of Classical Japanese calligraphy further enrich the interior space. This exceptional piece stands as a singular work of art on a beautiful and weighty vintage furniture canvas—a truly individual statement piece that encapsulates a moment of creative expression.
