DESCRIPTION

Antlers were already used in the late 15th century as a source material for clothes hooks, storage racks and chandeliers, the so-called "lusterweibchen". However furniture made by antlers have been invented in the 19th century and can therefore be assigned to the Biedermeier period. They were exclusively made for the European nobility to decorate their hunting castles and various manors. Antique furniture of this kind is very rare and much sought after, with somewhat of a revival over the past decade or so with many magazines showing interiors decorated with such items.

This particular table desk dates to the early part of the last century. It has incredible detail, with carved antler horns, as well as using antlers not just for the structure of the desk but for detailed decorative elements throughout. It is truly one of the best examples of late 19th/ early 20th century antler furniture.

Please note that our interior pieces are located at our Interior Design Showroom in Buckinghamshire, if you wish to see them in real life please contact us to arrange an appointment.
