DESCRIPTION
The firm has its origins in Melegnano, near Milan in 1900 as a continuation of the activity of the cutler Giambattista Izar, existing since 1818. In 1956 it was merged with that of the silversmith Gaetano Broggi taking the name of Broggi Izar and it was also listed on the stock exchange until 1984. The company produced cutlery for all the ruling houses of Europe and for the large ocean liners, including the Andrea Doria, employing over 500 workers until the industrial activities were discontinued.
With its rope-tie handles, it is easy to picture this tray being used in one of the luxurious liners for whom they produced dining room accessories. Extremely good quality, this elegant tray is a wonderful addition to any seaside home, a nice touch of class in a boat or a fantastic gift for a nautical enthusiast.
