ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Piero Figura was born in 1956 in Brindisi, southern Italy. He graduated in Architecture in Rome and began his career as a designer in Milan where he also taught set design at the Faculty of Architecture. A unique style that earned him the nickname of “Dalì dei Navigli” that a journalist from Panorama stuck on him years ago and that Figura brings with him without any embarrassment: “At that time I had opened a space on the Navigli and worked mainly on surreal and ironic creations that were very successful, that’s why I was given that nickname”.
In the mid-1990s he began his successful collaboration with Athena who consecrated the name of Piero Figura with several successful collections with works for sale at Sothebys and Christies. About ten years ago, he began working with Gianni Seguso: a collaboration that led to two collections in Murano glass and a third that would soon see the light.
