British Airways Concorde, often referred to simply as "Concorde," was a supersonic passenger aircraft that was jointly developed and operated by British Airways and Air France. It represented a remarkable achievement in aviation technology and became an iconic symbol of speed, luxury, and prestige.

The development of Concorde began in the 1960s as a collaborative effort between Britain and France. The British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) and France's Aérospatiale worked together to design and manufacture the aircraft. The first prototype Concorde took to the skies on March 2, 1969, in Toulouse, France, and the British prototype made its maiden flight from Filton, Bristol, on April 9, 1969.

British Airways and Air France became the two major operators of Concorde. British Airways took delivery of its first Concorde on January 14, 1976, and Air France received its first aircraft shortly after. The inaugural commercial flights of Concorde took place on January 21, 1976, with British Airways flying from London Heathrow to Bahrain and Air France flying from Paris to Rio de Janeiro.

Concorde was a marvel of engineering and design, capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 2.04 (approximately 1,354 miles per hour or 2,180 kilometers per hour), more than twice the speed of sound. It featured a distinctive delta wing design, advanced aerodynamics, and powerful Rolls-Royce/Snecma engines that allowed it to cruise at an altitude of around 60,000 feet (18,000 meters).

Concorde's speed meant that it could complete transatlantic flights in less than half the time of conventional aircraft, making it popular among affluent travellers seeking the ultimate luxury experience and time-saving convenience. Its interior boasted luxurious accommodations, including spacious seats, fine dining, and personalised service.
