Unfortunately the name of the model maker and the ship has gone missing so it is difficult if not impossible to identify the ship and its fate. Nevertheless the craftsmanship is of top quality, the level of detail so fine that it was most certainly made by an extremely good model maker. Half models such as these would normally have been presented by the ship makers to the client so that they could be displayed in the boardrooms to demonstrate the range of cargo ships in the company’s fleet. Today they are highly sought after and collectible models, renowned for their detailed craftsmanship and for their nostalgic value of a bygone era of cargo shipping.
CONDITION
In Good condition - wear and tear expected with age, one copper wire “rigging“ has come undone from the mast but hardly noticeable. Please refer to photographs.
