DESCRIPTION

An extremely rare four-blade propeller from an FE8 World War One aircraft. These aircrafts where a single seater fighters, the propellers are mounted to the rear so that the pilots could fire their machine guns mounted to the front of the plane. The Royal Aircraft factory only made 220 FE8's. Wood propellers like these were made from many layers of mahogany, glued together and perfectly balanced to achieve maximum strength for the aforementioned aircraft. This propeller is signed 'DARRACQ MOTOR ENGINEERING CO. LONDON' and numbered '2835' measuring 244cm wide. It belonged to the late Ken Ellwood, local historian and aviator and is in superb original condition.
