Antique 19th Century Victorian small cast iron strongbox safe with brass decorative detailing. Primarily used for the transport of document or valuables this was one of the first fireproof safes available. It would have been taken on long travels, perhaps on a long sea voyage or on the Orient express, also used as diplomats lock boxes when traveling on the continent, comes with a working lock and key.
