ANTIQUE 19thC CHINESE EXPORT PAIR OF SOLID SILVER CANDELABRAS c.1900
Antique 19th Century Chinese export solid silver exremely rare and unusual pair of candelabras. Modelled as a pair of matching vases with quadrangular sides, embossed and deeply chased decoration, panels depicting villagers, floral compositions and Grecian style boarder friezes. Each vase is fitted with nine realistically modelled lotus stems forming bobeches.
Hallmarked Chinese Export Silver (acid tested shows a 900+ silver standard), Retailers mark HT, H.T./HE CHENG 合成 [vietnamese HIEP TRINH] HAN-OI 河内 [pinyin HENEI], VIET NAM. Han Bac Street, Thang Long [Hanoi], Viet Nam, circa 1880-1920.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hué was the Imperial capital of the Nguyẽn Dynasty but many Chinese silversmiths and goldsmiths worked in Han Bac Street in Hanoi and specialised particularly in filigree. It was also the bullion quarter of what is now Hanoi.
