Antique early-20th Century Chinese export solid silver hot water jug, tree-trunk shaped body applied with prunus flowers and decoration in relief, handles and finials modelled as tree branches, outstanding quality and very heavy gauge. Hallmarked with Chinese Export marks (900+ silver standard), Chinese artisan mark and retailers mark HC for (Houcheong, active in Canton,1820-1890), Houcheong was a retail silversmith, predominantly catering for the English Georgian market, known for replicating or modifying English objects into Chinese style, he is undoubtedly considered one of the early Chinese retail silversmiths of the Chinese Export Silver period.
