The base is Hallmarked Chinese Export silver (acid tested shows a 900+ silver standard), Maker's mark LC (for Leeching, an important and very fine silversmith active in Canton, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong from 1840 to 1880). This particular mug dates before 1873.
