Antique 19th Century Chinese Export solid silver mug, particularly large size, tapering form, the body is applied with beautifully cast battle scenes in relief depicting horsemen fighting amongst hills and trees, very detailed and exciting, centering a vacant shield, the handle is beautifully modelled like a dragon, cast bamboo rims.

The base is Hallmarked Chinese Export silver (acid tested shows a 900+ silver standard), probably Canton, year 1870, Maker's mark LEECHING (for Leeching, an important silversmith active in Canton, Shanghai and Hong Kong from 1840 until 1880, for more information please see A. Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 4th edition 2015). 

CONDITION

In Great condition - No damage, just general wear.
