DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th / 20th Century Sino-Mongolian Solid Silver pair of censers and covers, beautifully modelled as a pair of mythical Qilins (or Kilins), considered a good omen thought to occasion prosperity or serenity. Each statue is resting on four feet, both the statues are beautifully chased in relief and applied with corals and turquoises all over. The pair is unmarked, as often the case for such pieces, but the silver has been acid tested and shows a 900+ standard. The two censers are typicallly north Chinese, Mongolian or Tibetan, and they probably date to year 1890-1900.
