Antique 19th Century rare and very unsual Chinese Export solid silver lidded ewer, of bellied form in the style of the Georgian beer jugs, hinged domed lid and scroll handle, the body is applied with a fine floral decoration in relief depicting chrisanthemums.
The base is Hallmarked Chinese silver (tested is 900+ standard), Maker's mark "WN" for Wing Nam & Company, important retail silversmith operating in Hong Kong from 1875 (for more information please see A. Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 4th edition 2015).
