DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Chinese Export solid silver twin-handled dragon bowl, the double skinned body is embossed with a cast dragon in high relief, the sides are applied with two large and finely crafted dragon shaped handles. The bowl is large and is particularly heavy, the craftsmanship is very fine.

The base is Hallmarked Chinese silver (tested 900+ standard), Maker Yang Quin He, active in Shanghai (1830-1930), Yang Qing He is considered as the most famous and successful Shanghai silversmith of the 19th century and is considered the one of the first silversmiths to open his silver workshop in Shanghai. The range of items that came out of his workshop was generally more diverse than any other workshop in Shanghai and the attention to detail and quality is clearly noticeable in his work.
