DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century Exceptional Burmese, Myanmar Solid Silver Thabeik bowl, repousse' decorated in high relief depicting different traditional scenes from the Burmese mythology, showing large detailed figures set against a chiseled matted background in continuous landscape. The top chased with scrolling bands and base decorated with a thick band of large betel leaves. The quality of the bowl is outstanding, heavy gauge and very crisp. The base bears an engraved floral makers mark in a circle, unfortunately I was not able to identify the maker, but he was undeniably a master silversmith, tested silver (900+ standard).
