ANTIQUE 20thC GILT BRONZE BUTTERFLY BY CARL KAUBA (1865-1922)
A early 20th Century metamorphic painted gilt bronze butterfly by Austrian maker Carl Kauba (1865 - 1922), modelled as a butterfly perched on a foliate base, opening to reveal a nude fairy. The wings are articulated with a small mechanism built into the base. On the rear of the bronze, it is signed "KAUBA". Mounted on a dark marble base.
