Antique mid-19th Century Victorian impressively large solid silver water jug, the generously adorned body features intricate relief depicting nautical scenes, elaborate scrolls, and mythical dolphins. Standing proudly on a spreading foot embellished with ocean algae, the jug boasts a unique design with a grotesque spout and a handle fashioned in the shape of a mermaid. Adding to its allure, the lid is adorned with a cast bust of a nude siren gracefully holding a harp. 'Presented to Thomas Smart Turnbull, in Greatful Rememberence of his noble effort to save the life of Charles Solomon at Whitby, August 10th 1859'.
