Modern 21th Century solid silver cast "Stallion" stirrup cup, realistically modelled as a horse's head, extremely detailed and well made, stunning quality of the workmanship. Stirrup cups were originally used for making toasts at hunts and are so called for the practice of having one final drink "for the road" when one foot was already in the stirrup. This is a magnificent and heavy piece in the style of the very rare and valuable Georgian and Victorian example. Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), Birmingham, year 2012 (n), Maker's mark JRB (John Reginald Burrows).
