DESCRIPTION
Antique 20th Century exceptionally rare and magnificent Edwardian Solid Silver monumental centrepiece on a stand, formed as Saint George horseback slaughtering the dragon, on a rocky circular base. This is one of the most impressive and outstanding solid silver monumental centrepieces by Garrard, 5560 grams of solid silver, 48cm tall.
The ebonized base is mounted with a shield engraved with the inscription: "THIS TROPHY IS A REMINDER THAT EFFICIENCY MEANS SELF-MASTERY AND IS A SYMBOL OF THE UNENDING STRUGGLE BETWEEN THE HERO AND THE BEAST IN MAN".
Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1907 (m), Maker's mark "SG" for Sebastian Henry Garrard, very important Royal silversmith, jeweller and supplier, he provided the Prince of Wales's coronet.
CONDITION
In Excellent Condition - No damage, just general wear.
