DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century rare set of four Victorian Solid Silver salts, each richly parcel gilt and resting on three cast feet depicting a peasant sitting on a barrel, embossed and applied with tavern scenes in the style of the Dutch painter David Teniers, imitating the Georgian pieces by Edward Farrell. Each salt is fitted with a blue glass liner.
Each piece is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, two year 1863 (h), Maker's mark RS (Richard Sibley II), two made to match year 1876 (A), Maker's mark FBT (Francis Boone Thomas). Each piece is stamped with the important retailer's mark for "THOMAS NEW BOND ST".
