DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Victorian Solid Silver inkstand, the body shaped as a water fountain flowing from three small shells into a larger Rococo style shell, two silver mounted cut-glass inkwells, removable taperstick as graduating stylised flower buds.

The main body and the lids are engraved with a crest of INGLIS family. Sir Robert Henry Inglis (1786-1855) 2nd Baronet of Milton Bryant, Woburn, Bedfordshire, was an English Conservative Politician with art and antiquarian interests. He was appointed to the first Fine Arts Commission, responsible for the Houses of Parliament's refurbishment in 1834. He was also antiquary of the Royal Academy.

Each part apart from the inkwells' bases are Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1841 (b), Maker's mark CTF CH (Charles Thomas Fox & George Fox, very important silversmiths).

In Great Condition - No damage, just general wear.
