DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century unique Victorian Solid Silver "Cellini" pattern ewer, the pattern is so called in honor of Benvenuto Cellini, the sculptor and goldsmith of the 16th Century considered the greatest of all time.
The jug is extremely heavy (1130 grams), beautifully chased with the typical decoration of masks, animals, strap-work and flutes, caryatid ornate scroll handle, parcel gilt.
The jug is Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1868 (n), Maker's mark Maker's mark crowned IH & RR (John Hunt & Robert Roskell, Hunt & Roskell, successors of the Paul Storr firm, the most important English Royal silversmiths of all time). Each base is further stamped with the retailer's mark "HUNT & ROSKELL, LATE STORR, MORTIMER & HUNT 4660".
